On 17 October 2014, Our World Is Not For Sale (OWINFS) network is organising, "Global Trade in Services Forum - From GATS to TISA", in partnership with the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) and the Public Services International (PSI). Large number of trade unionists from public and private sector, government representatives, global experts and civil society representatives will take part in the vent.

Negotiated in secret in Geneva for almost two years, Australia, Canada, Chile, Chinese Taipei, Colombia, Costa Rica, European Union (28 Member States), Hong Kong, Iceland, Israel, Japan, Liechtenstein, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Pakistan, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Republic of Korea, Switzerland, Turkey and the United States have been working to expand the provisions of the General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS).

Until recently very little was known about the Trade In Services Agreement (TISA). The implications for privatisation of public services and governments’ ability to regulate in the public interest will be at heart at this event. Further, the effects on different sectors and the multilateral trading system will be addressed. The event seeks at enabling a lively discussion in Geneva among different stakeholders on TISA and thus providing room for exchange, critical analyses and transparency.
